Philanthropy was not a tradition in my family of origin, so it was important for me to create an institutional structure my children could identity with. I find family business partnerships often result in conflict. Family philanthropy has brought us closer together. Each family member is encouraged to pursue their own passions, to be engaged, and to experiment what it’s like to be the asker as well as the giver.
